Small things together makes something big

What Do We Do with a Variation?

What do we do with a difference?
Do we stand and discuss its oddity
or do we ignore it?
Do we shut our eyes to it
or poke it with a stick?
Do we clobber it to death?
Do we move around it in rage
and enlist the rage of others?
Do we will it to go away?
Do we look at it in awe
or purely in wonderment?
Do we work for it to disappear?
Do we pass it stealthily
Or change route away from it?
Do we will it to become like ourselves?
What do we do with a difference?
Do we communicate to it,
let application acknowledge it
for barriers to fall down?
James Berry

I think that Jesus Colon should ashamed of himself. Why didn't he help the women? I think it doesn't matter people about being black and white. It about kindness. The women seems to need some help. She had one hand with her suitcase, and other hand with a baby, and handling with two children to me it is really hard, although I have never needed to do that but I can imagine how it is like to handle so many things in one time. I think that Colon should at least ask if she needs help... If the women said its okay, she don't need help, thank you. Then at least Colon had tried to help. From the poem of "What do we do with a variation" by James Berry I found a significant quote, "Do we stand and discuss its oddity or do we ignore it?" I think it relates to the Journey of Jesus Colon. Colon had tried to make a choice on whether to stand up and help the women or ignore. This also reminds me of the poem, "The Road Not Taken", by Robert Forst. The poem of "The Road Not Take", by Robert Forst is like Colon choosing which direction to go, the future depends of themselves is on what they had chosen. Like Jesus Colon, he chose to ignore the women that might need help, which made him feel guilty for his whole life, but if he helped the women then she would feel better because he helped someone. No matter who is the person if it's a family, a friend or a stranger, everyone deserves to be seen and to be care.

EVERY SMALL THINGS MATTERS. WHEN SMALL THINGS ARE TOGETHER IT BECOMES SOMETHING BIG.

Aung San Suu Kyi house arrest journey

I think that Aung San Suu Kyi is a really brave and independent person, she never complains about house arresting. She was house arrested for 65 years, although she is not the one that had been arrested the longest period of time and had the most suffer, but she is the brave one that stood up for her country, for the people in her country. I see a connection between Aung San Suu Kyi and Prometheus, they both bring hope to people, Aung San Suu Kyi stood up for the people in the country and give freedom to them, and Hades brought fire to mankind, they both helped people to get a better life... I also see a connection between Hades and her, they were both like in prison, Hades is stuck in the underworld, and she is house arrested, they both suffered with loneliness. They both also wanted connections with the earth.

No man is an island

NO MAN IS AN ISLAND

No man is an island entire of itself; every man
is a piece of the continent, a part of the main;
if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe
is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as
well as any manner of thy friends or of thine
own were; any man's death diminishes me,
because I am involved in mankind.
And therefore never send to know for whom
the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

From seeing the video of No Man Is An Island and also by looking at the poem of No Man Is An Island written by John Donne , I feel that people should be equal. They shouldn't be ignore. People wanted care from others too. On the poem written by John Donne I feel the part where it says, "No man is an island entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main" is really significant, it has connections with the video, they both tells that no people is by itself they depend on each other to be successful, one people is only one part of all, just like a jigsaw puzzle.

Ten things that represents me...

The ten objects that represent me is my glasses, watch, key chain, phone, handmade craft, colour pencils, Ipodtouch, mechanical pencil, motorcycle and a toy dog.

i didn’t really wear it when i first got it, but slowly i start getting used to wear it because it makes everything I see clearer.

2. I used to have a peach colour watch, once I went to a waterfall so I took out the watch and hang it somewhere so that it won’t get wet and spoil, later on I went back to the camping site forgotten about the watch (since i was freezing cold), then I reached the camping side, I remembered about the watch, when I got back to the waterfall the watch is gone and there is more people then before. Now i have a new watch and it is white colour I brought it during a summer holiday in Hong Kong.

3.The key chain is from one of my friend best friend in my old school, she bought it from Bangkok island and gave it to me for remembrance, she gave it to me about a year ago, the key chain always reminds me the friendship of me and her, now we still keep in touch with each other.

4.My brother brought that phone for me about 2 years ago. It helps me keep in touch with my friends and even friends in my old school. It also helps me to contact my parents for emergency, when I am need help I could call them and ask for help. Sometimes when I don’t know how to do some homework I ask for help from my friends by texting or calling. I think phone is a helpful technology device.

5.The reason why i choose the handmade craft because I like doing craft. I made that dragonfly in last year’s activity called CCC(chinese culture and craft)and it was fun, although i don’t remember how to do the dragonfly again, but i remember the good memories from last year’s activity of making the dragonfly and lots of other crafts and activities too. This dragonfly reminds me about the teacher who taught me this... she is in Australia now.

6.This colour pencils was the best colour pencil that I have ever had. It is nice to use it because it is soft. I brought that a long time ago, around 2-3 years ago. The reason I choose the colour pencils because I like to colour. Colour makes the world a better world.

7.The Ipodtouch, was actually my brother’s, but he bought a new Iphone so he gave the Ipod touch to me. I like the Ipod touch because there is lots of applications and games to download, i could also listen to musics in my Ipod touch, sometimes when i am bored in the car, bus or anywhere I could listen to musics from the Ipod touch or even play games. Ipod touch makes my life more entertaining.

8.The mechanic pencil is actually my mom’s she gave it to me. She said that she has it when she is in first grade, that time they were quite poor so she uses the mechanic from first grade until she finish studying, and she got in the top ten grade among her grade using the mechanic pencil and now she still has it and she gave it to me. I think the mechanic has a really important memories. It tells that I am really lucky to have enough stationary to use, so I shouldn’t waste them.

9. My brother has a motorcycle he could drive but he doesn’t have license yet so he could only drive me at our house area not outside. It was fun, I could feel the cold fresh air. It is fun sitting at a motorcycle and letting my brother drive me but the thing that I was scared of was that I might fall from the motorcycle when my brother is driving me, because my brother didn’t learned how to drive the motorcycle from a professional person yet, he was taught by my uncle and my uncle didn’t learned it from any professional person too. He only figured it out by himself and he is teaching my brother, it is kinda scary sometimes, but it is fun...

10.The reason why I choose the toy dog because I love dogs. I use to have a dog named rainbow my mom choose the name for my dog, because we bought a rainbow coloured collar when we are thinking about it name, but one day my parents says that we are going to go to K.L to study, then they gave rainbow to my brother’s tennis teacher. The toy dog always reminds me of my dog, when I see the toy dog it makes me feel like i am seeing my dog rainbow.

Dancing

Matt Harding didn't do any advertisement on television or newspaper, but everyone know him and some start making blogs of him, start chatting about him. They are spreading the news one continued by one, they spread it along. Wherever he goes people wants to dance with him, adults and even children came to dance with him. They wanted to let people know that they were in this world, they wanted to connect with the world. I think dancing is a good idea to connect with the world~

Compliments

One compliment is the changes of their days. One compliment can cheer them up, everyone have at least one thing to compliment about. The compliment guy gives everyone a positive mind by saying everyone's good things and that would change all of their day and make them cheerful. I think, they say all the complements by heart, since they don't get money by saying the compliments, they think everyone is good in some ways, so they decided to compliment something about them by heart.

The Giver... ^^

Question that I chose:
1. Would you want your future to be decided by others ? Why or Why not?

Response to the question:
I would want to decide my own future, because my own future is like my whole life... Without choosing my own future is just like losing all the freedom. Like in the book The Giver, in Jonas world they could not chose their own jobs, no colors to pick, their world were really simple and peaceful, but without all of those their life are like really dull no fun, but in our world we do have decision which means we could decide not being control. If my future is decided by others then I don't think I would be happy because my life wouldn't be what I expected it to be. If my future was decided by someone then they person have to know me really well, other then my parents and my elder brother and myself I don't think anyone else would know me that well and could decide my future, others might not know me as long as I know myself because they don't know be before I know myself.

The other reason I chose to decide my own future because for example job. Job is the most important decision it is about what we are going to do when we grow older it is going to take us about half a day working the same thing in the same place, what if others gave a wrong decision there then I will staying there for half day ever day when I get older and I am sure I won't enjoy my work, but if I decide my own I would know what fits me the best and I will enjoy my work and be more happy then having others deciding my job which might not fit me the best. Like Jonas in the book Giver they were observed by the Elder before getting a job in the community in Jonas's world, like Jonas his job is not actually what he expected to be the special one but it fits him because the Elder had observed him careful and made sure that he is going to fit in the job being a Receiver but he might not wanted to be a Receiver, because he doesn't even know what being a Receiver is going to be like but he is false to be a Receiver he has no choice. Here we have our own decision which is really good, so I don't want it to change and have my future decided by other people. I also wish that Jonas is going to change his world in the book later on and let others have their own decision... Good luck Jonas!...

The End Is Here...

I chose question no.4:Chose one of the 3 main characters and write how this character has changed during the course of the novel. Make sure you give at least three or more examples from the book to show how he changed.

I chose to write about Will.
Will had became braver during the course of the novel. At first he is not really brave until he met Ozymandias. Ozymandias told him about the secret of the White Mountain. He told him that he could get freedom there because there is no Tripods around the White Mountain. At first Will doesn't really care about freedom, because he was not brave enough to escape from the Tripods and he doesn't know how to escape for being capped by the Tripods, but this time his chance came, he became braver and decided to leave his village in England and start his journey to the White mountain. The other reason I said that Will became braver because in his journey to the White Mountain there is a small button growing in his skin put by Tripods, he did not even disagree about letting Beanpole cut the small button off even though he knows that it will be really painful.

The other changes that Will had changed is that he became better friends with Henry. When he is in his village in England he and Henry always fight together and Will doesn't really liked him because Henry is always mean to Will and sometimes bully him, but until one day, Henry's mother passed away and he had to stay with Henry in the same house and when Will is trying to escape to the White Mountain Henry found that out and decided to follow Will and they helped each other on the journey which made them into better friend then they are when they were in England.

The third changes that Will changed is that at first when he is in his village (England). He wanted to know what is the feeling of being capped and he wanted to be capped really soon but when he know how important that freedom is after Ozymandias had told him about how does it feel if he had lost freedom. He told Will that people that had been capped doesn't have feelings, no decisions and they also have no freedoms, which made him feeling like going to the White Mountain.

Review of book: I didn't really like the book at first but in the middle I feel it quiet interesting. Later on I feel it kinda boring because all they are telling is just that the Tripods were looking for them and they are hiding and they reached the White Mountain.

About My Holiday

During my holiday at the end of 2009, my family and I went to three different countries. The three countries were Hong Kong, Japan(Tokyo) and China(Hokkien and Xia Men).

First, we went to Hong Kong to stay for one day and then we went to Tokyo the next day. When we reached Tokyo we were really happy because it was our first time to go to Tokyo. In Tokyo we went to Disneyland; it is really huge in Disneyland although there were lots of people, but there wasn't any rubbish on the floor.

Other than going to Disney land we also went to a place call Fugiland (Which I am not so sure what was its name). In the Fugiland there was the tallest roller coaster in the whole Japan. My mum and I had a ride on the roller coaster; it is really fun. After riding on the roller coaster my mum said that she regretted closing her eyes while we are riding on the roller coaster, but anyway we had already went on the ride because I didn't really want to go on it again (once is enough).

We also went to a ghost house after the roller coaster, but this time my whole family and I went in together. We thought there would be ghosts jumping out to scare us so my brother and I stuck to my dad to be more safe, but there wasn't anything coming out. We could only listen to some sounds in Japanese(which we don't understand). When we got out of the ghost house there were still no ghosts at all so we were angry, but actually we went to the wrong ghost house. That's why there weren't any ghosts coming out.

We went to Tokyo for six days; then we went back to Hong Kong for three days. Actually nothing much happened in Hong Kong. We just went shopping and celebrated my birthday. After that we went to Hokkien to celebrate my brother 16 years old birthday because that was a tradition of my father's village which is that if you are a boy in that village and you have a son then when it is his 16 years old you have to invite the whole village to eat in your house for a few days. You put a lot of firecrackers and fireworks and also pray to a lot of gods which is really tiring and kinda boring listening to those firecrackers and fireworks that are really loud.

After staying in Hokkien for five days we went to Xia men for one day. Nothing much happened there too because we only went there for one day. It took 1 hour to get there. We only shopped for a while then and the next day we went back to Malaysia K.L

Thats what happen to my holiday at the end of the year 2009. Thanks for reading my passage. The END.

*BloG ReFleCtiOn oF "ME"*

Hi all, I am now going to tell you about the reflection of me in ISKL.

A good skill that I have learned in ISKL, was knowing how to play a flute by learning its fingering, posture, tonguing, how to read the notes and more or etc, from Mr.Christensen. I really enjoy during band class and I enjoy learning, playing and hearing the sound of the flute.

A challenge that I had in this past 5 months happens on my first day of school. I was unable to find the way to my classes, but fortunately there were some peer helpers and teachers that helped me find my way to those classes. Therefore, I could now find my way to all my classes.

A skill that I would like to learn is to use proper grammar, so that I could write better stories, and get higher grades.

A thing I contributed positively in 6th grade was responsibility. I tried not to forget my homework, and did all my homework in time to pass it up the next morning to my class teacher. I also tried to be in time for all my classes.

The two goals that I have set for this new year and the next 6 months of school was to get a better grades for all my subjects. Try not to get lower than "B". To reach my goals I will review everything at home that I have learned in school. The second goal that I have set was to read more books, because in the year 2009 I had only read 4 books a month. To reach my goal I am going to borrow more books from the library to read to improve my reading skill.

Thanks for reading my passage.
The END
