Creating peace

Mohandas Gandhi once said that, “An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind.” The meaning of this quote is two or more people getting in a fight and making the fight bigger will ends up making the whole world suffer. This links to the reason I chose a picture with a peace sign in the sky, because I think that with peace, the world can be really beautiful as it is in the picture. Peace is defined as “having harmony between 2 or more people.” If I was given the opportunity to begin a new world, I would hope for peace in the society.

Peace is an important characteristic in a society because without peace there is fear, killing and death. In a world without peace, you can hear sounds of horror. People crying because of sadness in their house since staying at home is a better choice for safety. However, on the other hand, staying at home also has a disadvantage as starvation could happen easily because they will get killed easily if they go out to get food. To promote peace teachers in the school can teach the children how to make peace, such as teaching them how to get along with each other.

During the World War II, countries attack each other to get the country they want and to show that they are powerful. Because of their selfishness, many people died, no one feels safe. If no one cares about having the most power and having the most land, then the war wouldn’t have happened and people can live happily. They can live without the control of fear which allows them the freedoms they desire. If it was you, would you rather live in a world of fear or harmony?

Additionally, peace is important to a society because it allows people to accept differences which create a tolerant society. Jeremy Gilley, a film direct is working on creating peace on September 21 to stop violence in order to save lives and build relationships. As many people said that students are our future therefore he talked to children around the world face to face on skype. Over the last 11 years he had talked to over 40,000 students. To us maybe peace a day is just a single day but for some people it is a day that makes them feel free and safe. (Link of blog about Jeremy Gilley creating peace)

Without peace the new world would be a disaster. People would be worrying what is going to happen next, worrying if they would still be alive tomorrow, and worrying about their family. As mentioned before, Mohandas Gandhi once said, “An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind” meaning that if I punch a person I hated and he/she punches me back harder and I punch back even harder then it would just be worse and will end up making more people hurt. Does fighting solve any problems? What is worth fighting for?
